Surrounded by Excellence… Weak Link or Rising Tide

What is your perception when joining a group of individuals working together towards one purpose when you are one of the newest or least experienced members?

Weak Links

Working in the Direct Selling industry for over 10 years, I have seen many people come and go.  Some start strong but reveal themselves to be a shooting star… a superstar one day, gone the next.   Others come in and see the experience of those around and believe they are simply the weak link and defeat themselves before they ever get started.  Self doubt, self sabotage, negative and defeating association can knock holes in their ship and sink people’s belief, focus and/or determination.  Leaving them to sink out of sight.

Rising Tide Raises All Ships

Next time you are at the ocean or even a lake, notice how the water level is not discriminatory with what type of boat is in the water (given it is waterworthy) as the water level goes up all ships rise with it.   Other people come in the industry almost un-noticed, un-skilled, and un-supported… but they ride the tide… they seek out effective association (not positive only, but, effective association)… learning from others’ experiences that have fruit on the tree… they are willing to act and more importantly willing to fail until they succeed under mentorship of effective leadership.

So, if you find yourself surrounded by people who stretch you and may even make you uncomfortable (in a good, moral, ethical and legal way)… understand that will only allow you the opportunity to rise to a higher standard for yourself and indirectly raise the people around you as well.
